Varsity Spirit Cheer

I began Varsity Spirit Cheerleading during my freshman year of high school and I have been a spirit cheerleader since my Kindergarten year of elementary school. My senior year I was given  the honor of being voted Cheer Captain, which was a leadership role at large. Cheerleading has introduced me to a wonderful group of friends and to a coach who is one of the greatest role models in my life. Varsity Spirit Cheerleading has taught me how to interact with a large group of individuals and how to make a commitment to an organization. Through Varsity Spirit Cheerleading and the coaches who are present, I have learned about myself as an individual. I have gathered self-respect and self value that will follow me throughout a lifetime.

Varsity Competition Cheer

Pro Cheer All Stars

Varsity Competition Cheerleading, besides my academics, was my main focus throughout my entire high school career. Varsity Competition Cheerleading introduced me to a second family and to a second group of adults who I considered my "other" parents. Varsity Competition Cheerleading taught me about time commitment and about good sportsmanship. The sport taught me to test my mind and convince it that my body is capable of more than it believes. Competition Cheerleading taught me to have confidence in myself and to have confidence in the people around me. During my Competition Cheerleading career, my team and I attained 2 Region titles, 1 Sectional title, 2nd place in the state, 9th place in the state, and 10th place in the state.

In addition to competing for my high school, I was also involved in Competition Cheerleading within a private gym. This branch of cheerleading is commonly known as "All Stars". While my High School team consisted of only girls, my All Stars team consisted of all girls plus two boys. Having two boys on the team introduced me to close friends outside of the female gender and allowed for me to see how similar both genders are. The All Star team encouraged me to do my best in any circumstance.

Varsity Track

I was introduced to the sport of track  in middle school and immersed myself in the sport during the seasons of winter and spring. While track pushed me to my physical limits, it was also very rewarding. Track trained my body to persevere and to fight through the physical pain. Track trained my body to understand that pain is temporary, yet the results will withstand much longer. During the track season, I accomplished many goals. My biggest goal that I accomplished was gaining the school record in the 4x400 meter relay.

Babysitting

Babysitting has played a large role in my teenage years. Babysitting helped to teach me how to manage children who I am not related to. Babysitting was also my first job which I got paid for, so it began my experience of scheduling and money management. It also introduced me to having a boss like figure (the parents of the children) and working alongside rules that were applied. I learned to work in a more professional environment and outside of the comfort of my home.

Yearbook

Yearbook gave me the opportunity to work with a team in order to create a book that recounted an entire school year. I practiced the role of leadership after being nominated as an Editor for my senior year. Yearbook taught me the importance of detail, deadlines, and hard work. In order to create the book by the end of the year, my best work was required and there seemed to be no room for mistakes. I also learned the strategy of working well with a team in order to complete a vast project.
